Saffron

Saffron is known for what it does to energize dishes with a pungent, earthy essence.  The unique organic composition of saffron makes it a powerful addition to your diet, as it contains more than 150 volatile compounds, including carotenoids, safranal, crocin, antioxidants, and other biochemicals, as well as minerals and vitamins that are essential to human health. In Japan, saffron is encapsulated and used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, memory loss, and inflammation. I use saffron to infuse morning yogurt, a simple carrot hummus or even flavor rice dishes.
